Wonderful growth experience at the Virginia Beach 3-day weekend. Jason and his team of active-duty operators were extremely inspiring, motivating, and professional. They truly WANT to see you succeed and become a better version of yourself, a version perhaps hidden but there, nonetheless. I am planning to participate in future events and highly recommend to anyone . You will not only push your own limits but also learn about what it means to serve in the US military: to lead, to be accountable, and to hold yourself to a higher standard than the average civilian. Iron sharpens iron.

Look, I’ve been to five of these events and I’m more of a skeptic than fanatic by nature; these experiences are extremely valuable and well worth the time, money, and effort to travel to and attend. No event has gotten any easier (although the SF Challenge is more endurance based), and each has shown me a different part of myself to improve and work on. Jason is a one of a kind guy who puts a lot of effort into knowing his students and guiding them personally. Jason is calculated and measured, and as a former D1 athlete myself I can tell you that he is an excellent coach/trainer both knowledgeable on the topics and an excellent teacher. Jason keeps it straight forward and honest when needed, and at times uses a patient and curious approach to his athletes. Jason takes the time to know his athletes when there is time, and when there isn’t (by design) he gets them squared away swiftly and directly. These events are intense. Jason is a fair and honest man, and every bit of suffering at these events is calculated and designed to help you accomplish your goals. You will learn culture, work ethic, expectations, LEADERSHIP, grit (you must choose this!), techniques for specific selection based evolutions, chain of command, professionalism, and more valuable lessons to prepare you for any selection course in the U.S. military. The cadre at each event are incredible individuals who care deeply about teaching students how to be better in any way they can for the selections that they will face. I have gained amazing mentors from this event, and a professional approach to both my training and demeanor that will serve me well going forward in my career. I highly recommend prioritizing SOCOM Athlete events and resources in your training schedule. Optionally, there are faith based social resources that come from these experiences as well. You will have one on one time with current special operators, the experience of visiting and training on military bases, and group Q&A with current operators and recruiters alike. I’ve been set on my chosen path and goal, however, these events have opened my eyes to how many different jobs and communities in U.S. SOCOM operate, their culture, and what they do. Regardless of what your chosen pursuit is, learning about these different roles in U.S. SOCOM and how they differ from your chosen path is valuable for your career; all different components to the same larger team. Seeing the demeanor and standards of the cadre from many different walks of the military first hand has been great for my understanding of the varying lifestyles and expectations of these special careers. As I watched an active duty Navy SEAL jump into the pool to demonstrate a front flip to a 50m underwater it struck me the focus and intention that culminates at these events.
